THE NEW YORKER MAGAZINE

This magazine was and still is one of the most widely distributed magazines in the United States. At the time, it was constantly a subject of discussion in the circles of hip. And it was often found in the back pockets of many of the people associated with the phenomenon.
DWL quickly discovered that conversations in case studies often revolved more around the fact that one did in fact read The New Yorker. As opposed to a discussion about the specific content of the magazine. In one particular case study, the subject (a subscriber to the magazine) said that he did not read The New Yorker at all, but did look at the cartoons.
Misshapes Party

A periodic party hosted at various venues throughout downtown Manhattan. Named after the song of the same title by iconic Brittish band PULP. A social center of the phenomenon, and generally a place to be seen.
The Misshapes party eventually ended, as organizers realized it was more lucrative to sell the brand in other ways, including a book of portraits of thousands of individuals who attended the party over time. This book has proven to be a very accurate source document when trying to piece together the appearance and dress of the typical person running in the circle.
