An online music publication that the phenomenon seemed to revolve around. For example, an important record of the time, YANKEE HOTEL FOXTROT by Wilco, emerged as one of the most important records of the century when it received a perfect 10.0 rating from Pitchfork Media.
Numerous bands & records received spikes in popularity on the basis of a review on the website. Most to be forgotten in time when the music did not stand up to the review.

A lifestyle magazine that was distributed free of charge in and around New York City. Named after the subway line that runs from Manhattan to the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, where the phenomenon of hip was most prevalent.
Sponsored many popular events, including a movie series at McCarren Park. Movies like Bonnie & Clyde, The Three Kings, Night of the Hunter, & Pulp Fiction screened at the series.
